Yoko and Suki

I made this 5 x 7 card using Scrolls Work #6539 Large Yoko and Suki and  #4544 Zenigata Fountain rubber stamps.   I stamped the images onto vellum and colored the underside to give it a softer silk screened kind of Asian look. The bg paper underneath is Susan Godfrey Winter Wonderland digi paper which is muted by the vellum.  I am really pleased with the results.
I found a wonderful online shop called Pizzazz Aplenty this week.  Judy has a wonderful assortment of beautiful, high quality lace, ribbons and bling of all sorts!  I bought 30 yards of satin ribbon, 5 yards of lace, 9 yards of pearls on a cord, 9 yards of trim on the spools, 3 yards of gingham, 100 rim stones in 2 colors, 100 purple rhinestones and a 2 gel pickers.  All this for only $20.55 including shipping!  Everything arrived within 2 days of ordering, and not only did I receive the Special of the week (5 packages of Cranberry rhinestones) but also some samples of some of her other stones.  Thank you Judy for the excellent service and prices along with all the extra special goodies you included.  Everything was packaged beautifully, I'll be sure to come back again.
All of my goodies shown above.
The very generous freebie included with my order below.

Posh 'n Trendy Thursday

This is Lindsay's newest set Posh 'n Trendy, which is already a favorite on my list!  I love all the vintage items in this set.  The background paper is another one of my favorites Bold Black and White the perfect set to those who are new to digital stamping and afraid of using too much ink to print a sheet.  You print the black designs on to your colored paper, so black is the only color ink you use.  You also have a huge variety of papers because every time you change the color of your paper you get a different look. Not only that, but you also have a sheet of matching colored card stock to go with the print, another reason I love it, this is a total bargain!  It's Thursday so be sure to stop by Lindsay's blog The Frugal Crafter to see what wisdom she has to share along with the Thursday Freebie.  Don't forget the rest of the awesome Design Team, their work is always top notch!

Learning something new

I have been playing with digital images for over a year now but I keep learning new things.  I found out from my awesome DT Sisters the difference between a JPG and a PNG file is that the PNG can be layered transparently.  Really simple thing to do in Word, I actually have 3 images layered up here, the Shabby Houndstooth paperOld Paper set and the Cute Easter set.
I printed the torn page twice and cut it out so I could give it more dimension and I ran some Cotton Candy Stickles around the edge also.  The tag was printed in Word and cut with Spellbinders Ribbon Tags Trio Shapeabilities.  The card is a 5 x 7.  Well it's Thursday and you know that means Lindsay has something special and free on her blog The Frugal Crafter.  Stop by the Design Team's blogs also to see their gorgeous work.  I really admire these gals, they are always getting published and winning challenges, go see for yourself it is an awesome group.

Tea Anyone?

I thought I'd give you a new twist this week with this vintage 6 x 6 card. I used Vintage Alice Printable Stamp Sheets, a set I bought from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, before I was on her design team.  She has a few Vintage Alice sheets to choose from, one of them is in color too.  I also used one of my favorite papers, Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Bold Black and White, printed on Stampin Up More Mustard.  The Chestnut Theme challenge over at Gingersnap Creations is Hot Beverage, the Mad Hatter and his tea is my interpretation.  I used the sketch from Card Patterns.  I don't know if you can see it, I used the Utee thick embossing powder on the Mad Hatter and then gave it an aged crackled look, I printed him with the color change option in Word.  I also used Tim Holtz Weathered Wood, and Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Circles.  Be sure to stop by Lindsay's blog The Frugal Crafter to see what she has made for us this week and to get your Thursday Freebie.  And don't forget my Design Team Sisters, they are all so super talented!

Bunta in Blue

New stamp, new paper, new technique, whoo hoo!  I love this Asian stamp called Bunta by Scrolls Work, she inked up so well.  Don't forget the Scrolls Work 35% off sale ends tomorrow the 9th.  I used black embossing powder to give her more depth.  I used a paper piecing technique from Technique Junkies layering her up.  The beautiful paper is Websters Pages Vellum Designs 2 Digi Collection.  I printed the paper twice, once 7 x 7  on to a 5 x 7 formatted sheet size the other 8 x 8.  I stamped her on the 8 x 8 sheet and cut her out and pieced her on to the other page, that way the wheel spokes would look like the bg paper (my card size is 5 x 7).  I stamped her again to get her beautiful Kimono, cut and pasted that and took the hands from the one underneath and pasted them on top.  I took the words live your dreams from the 8 x 8 with a Spellbinders Labels 10.   I used Tim Holtz Weathered Wood distress ink which is a bluish black color.  I made the flowers with my Cricut.  That's it for today, I hope you liked it.  Thanks for looking.  ~Diane

Seasonal Pointsettia

Sorry I was not around to wish you all a Merry Christmas, I had some major computer/internet issues that kept me away.  I didn't keep me from making some cards though.  I love this Poinsettia image from Scrolls Work Stamps, (check out the 1 Year Anniversary Sale that starts today) it is so versatile.  It is actually a block of 4 that I cut my flowers from.  The card is a 4.25 x 5.50 , not my usual 5 x 7.  I used the sketch at Cardabilities for my layout inspiration and I used the Technique Junkie technique for acetate flowers.  Paper is one of my favorites Uptown Houndstooth.

I've got the moon on a string.

I hope you can get the idea of this card from the photo's.  The Santa Moon is wound up by twisting it in circles about 15 times so that when you open the card he will spin.  I used the cute Santa Moon and Seasons Greetings stamps from Scrolls Work.  I stamped the Santa Moon once on white card stock and again on clear acetate with Stazon black ink.  I used the back side of the acetate image so I could flip it in the other direction.   I colored in the skin tone on the front and back of the white cut out so it shows through the acetate.  I have a piece of fishing line secured with Zots going from the top inside if the card, through the moon and then underneath the foil which was embossed with a Cuttlebug Snowflakes embossing folder.  I used Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Circles Large to cut both the opening and the top of the foil.  I heat embossed the Seasons Greetings inside the card.  I used Stickles Silver to trim the scallops and the star.

Last minute gifts

This week Lindsay challenged us to make some gift packaging.  I always keep a few gift cards on hand just in case I forget someone, (I forget a lot of things lately).  These store brand gift card tins are perfect for this, you can dress them up in a matter of minutes just before you run out the door.  I used Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Winterland and Uptown Houndstooth to make these little cuties.  This is easy peasy, I just print, used the clear plastic template I traced out a while back, cut, glued and I am done!   Have you noticed I am in love with the cranberry houndstooth?   (On sale for only $2.24 through Saturday)   I love the digi papers, you can size them up or down to suit any occasion or project. They are on sale today along with everything else in the MyGraphico Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Store.   Be sure to stop by Lindsay's blog The Frugal Crafter to grab your Thursday freebie and see her latest awesome project.  Speaking of awesome projects the LSS design team always has something splendid to share be sure to stop by.  Thanks for looking.  ~Diane

Christmas Lantern

This Christmas lantern was way too much fun to make and really easy too!   In the center is a battery operated tealight which looks really cool at night.  I used 4 fabulous stamps from Scrolls Work Rubber stamps to make this gem.  I used #8047 Noel Blocks, #8037 Christmas Kats#8024 Snow Kisses, and #8022 Christmas Tree.  I stamped them on vellum with Stazon ink and colored them in with markers and used some Stickles.  The holly leaves are made with Cricut Joys of the Season and I used Spellbinders Labels 2 Nestabilities to make the windows.  The shiny green cs is a heavy foil which I embossed with Stampin Up Texture Plates Kit 4 Weave.  Pop over to the Scrolls Work blog to see what the rest of the design team has made.

Quick and Easy Christmas card

So this week Lindsay asked us to make a quick and easy card, something you could mass produce or make in 10 minutes.  Of course this 10 minute card only took me 1 1/2 hours to make which compared to my usual 2-3 days is a pretty good in my book lol.  I am sure now that I know how to do it I could make it a lot quicker, not 10 minutes though, it takes me that long to trim and fold my card.  But this was easy once I had my idea all nailed down, the Snow Lady required no coloring, I just pulled it all up in Word and printed it out, you could do it all on 1 page of 8/5 x 11.  So to make this quickie card I used the Snow lady from Winterland, the Uptown Houndstooth  paper was printed in 2 different sizes and the Happy Holidays is from the Vintage Christmas Labels set.  I used a Cuttlebug Snowflakes embossing folder and  Spellbinders Classic Circles Nestabilities.  Be sure to stop by Lindsay's blog The Frugal Crafter she always has some awesome ideas to share and a freebie too.  Speaking of awesome ideas, check out the rest of the design team, they are all so talented and much quicker than me too.  Thanks for looking.  ~Diane

Lady Flourish Silhouette

I wish you could see this IRL, it has a lot of sparkle and dimension that I could not get the photo to pick up.  The gorgeous image is Scrolls Work image # 2557 Lady Flourish Silhouette #1.  I stamped her with Adirondack snow cap white and heat embossed with opaque silver powder onto Night of Navy cs.  I used the Spellbinders Impressabilities Snowflake to dry emboss the silver foil cs and added rhinestones to the centers of the snowflakes.  I trimmed the image in Stickles silver, blue and black.  The ribbon was a wide one that I trimmed down to this size.  The layout is from a sketch at Waltzingmouse Stamps that I found on Allison's Stampin When I Can blog.  Be sure to stop by the Scrolls Work blog to see what the rest of the Design Team and our Guest Designer have made.

Global Holly Shaker card

I've been working on this card for over a week now, trying to get it to look like the vision in my head.  The minute I saw this gorgeous Scrolls Work image of Holly I knew I wanted to make her into a shaker card snow globe. That took quite a bit of engineering, I'm so glad I persisted.  The finished size of the card is 5 x 7.  I stamped her in black Stazon ink on to the gold card stock and the clear acetate.   I colored her in on the back side of the clear image so it did not cover up all of the detailed shaded lines in this stamp.  Then I added a circle of doubled up foam mounting tape to the back of the acetate image then added the snow and the front of the acetate card.  I trimmed and mounted the gold cs on top of that.  That's when I decided to color in her skin, so I stamped her again on to white cs and cut out her arms and face.  I had already closed up the globe so I added these pieces to the back of the clear card which really gives her a neat dimensional look.  Then I added some light blue cs to look like the sky and a darker blue to match her dress and frame the card.  So the layers are gold, clear, foam tape, snow, clear, arms and face, clear, light blue and dark blue.   The Christmas bulbs were made with a punch, 1large whole circle of foiled cs, and the glittered adhesive cs was made by aiming the punch to only cut a sliver of circle at a time which gives it the nice curves.  I also cut the circle in the gold cs with my Nestie.  I hope you stop by Scrolls Work to see all of their gorgeous unmounted rubber stamps.
