Blooming Beauty's

Hi All, today I am sharing a card I made using the Jodi Lees Natures Garden papers for the flower pot along with the Gecko Galz In my Easter Bonnet ladies.  I die cut the flower pot twice, made an accordion fold from the scrap and glued it to the bottom of the pot for a stand.  I die cut some leaves and stems and flowers, fussy cut the ladies and glued them on.  Added some ink and Stickles to the flowers and glued them onto another scrap that would slide in and out of the pot.  I used a piece of beaded lace trim to hold the top of the flower pot together and allow for the flowers to slide in and out along with the message.  That's it, thanks for stopping by.  ~Diane

Easter card

Hi All, I'm sharing this Easter card I made for the Gecko Galz DT.  This 5 x 7 card uses paper from the Gecko Galz digital Solarium Paper pack along with the image from the Gecko Galz digital Easter Children collage set.  I used Distress ink in China blue to edge the card front and the image.  I mounted the image on a piece of blue vellum and cut it with fancy scissors, added a doily and corner die cut with my Zing and used Diamond Stickles on them both.  Die cut the bunny and added pink coloring then flocked, added a pink jewel eye and the blue crown to the bunny.  I also added some Lace Stickles to the trim on the dresses and bonnet.  That's it for today, thanks for stopping by.  ~Diane

Christmas Card A Week #2

Hi All, here is my second card for the Christmas card challenges.  I started a bit late but I hope to catch up later in the year, if not I will still be ahead of last year!  I used a Gecko Galz image from the Darling Girls collage set,  along with Gecko Galz paper set called Wild Roses.
The doubled up die cut is from Carina GardnerIts hard to see but I flocked the little bird and added some Stickles to both the roses in her hair and to the die cut.  I like using the softer pink and green for my Christmas cards.
Please come join us, and see all the other great Christmas ideas at both of these link ups.  That's it, thanks for stopping by and thank you for your encouraging comments.   ~Diane

Insects at Tag Tuesday this week

Hi All, the prompt at Tag Tuesday this week is Insects, so I chose butterflies as it is the only insect I don't run from.  I have not stamped in a long time, but I decided to bring out the ink, stamps and embossing powder and give this a whirl.  I used Stampin Up's Bliss stamp set along with some Stampendous embossing powder from the Encrusted Jewel Pink set and the Goose Bumps spray.  Some ranger ink, velum butterflies, and Stickles were added too.  I uses a piece of pretty pink lace to tie on the top of the tag.   I must say making tags is a real challenge for me but one I am glad my friend Valerie suggested I try.  It really is pushing me to grow and try new things, and  although I sometimes feel insecure about it, I love the challenge.
Thanks for all the nice comments you leave, it really is encouraging, and thanks for looking.  ~Diane

Gecko Galz wants to see your Valentine!

Hi All, there is still time to join the Gecko Galz Valentines Contest, you have until January 31st, and there are some great prizes.  This is one of my Gecko Galz  design team cards I made for the challenge.   I used the image from Gecko Galz Valentine Wishes along with the Bingo sheet from from Gecko Galz Bits and Pieces.  I printed them both on matte/matte photo paper from Staples.  Ribbon is from Stampin Up, red hearts are from my stash and I used Stickles Crystal on the rose.  For the envelope liner I used Basic Grey True Love papers
Instructions:  I printed the Bingo sheet twice and fussy cut the rose out of the second sheet.  I printed the Valentines Wishes image and mounted it onto a piece of brown card stock,  I used my Perfect Layers Rulers to trim a 3/16th border, then mounted that on to the Bingo sheet. I added the red ribbon and red hearts and then mounted the whole sheet on to a white 5 x 7 folded card.  I trimmed the edges of the rose with Stickles, then placed a piece of dimensional foam underneath it.  For the envelope liner I printed a 4 x 6 image of the Basic Grey True Love papers and used a fancy edge scissor to trim it on the top edge.  I put it in position inside the envelope and then fold the crease, once it is folded I use a little little white glue to hold it in place.
Well that's it, thanks for stopping by and thanks for looking.  ~Diane

Hearts, lace, roses and the key to my heart

Hi All, I have another card to share.  This month Gecko Galz is teaming up with Basic Grey to show how well the products work together.  Pop over to Gecko Galz and get the details, I would love to see one of you win, there is a fabulous prize too, a $25 shopping spree at Gecko Galz and the Basic Grey digital paper pack True Love. This is not my DT piece, but it was so much fun working with both products I just did this one for fun, lol.
I used Gecko Galz Valentine Wishes for the image and 2 of the papers from True Love paper set.  Also used Gold Stickles, Baby Blue liquid pearls, leaf punch from Stampin Up, paper flower and scrap lace I cut the flower design out of and a gold Stickled key from my stash.
This was fun to make, you can do it too as long as you have a Word program, its really easy.  I printed the Basic Grey blue once and the lacy square piece twice on to matte matte photo paper.  I cut one of the lacy squares in half and glued it top and bottom behind the the other square, then I fussy cut the edges on the whole lacy piece.  I mounted that on to the 5 x 7 blue, added the baby blue Stickles to the centers of the roses.  I printed and fussy cut the image from Valentine Wishes, trimmed the heart and scrolls in Stickles Gold, put some dimensional foam underneath and mounted it on to the card.  I then added the trimmed piece of blue lace, the flower and the key.  Then I just glued that on to a folded white card base.
Here is the fun part, for the envelope liner I went into Word, chose insert picture and added the blue paper, right clicked to size it to a 6 x 6, then left clicked on to the white blank part of the page (this is important).  Then I  went back to insert, picture, chose the lacy piece and added it to the (now second page), right clicked to size and made it 4.95 x 4.95.   Then at the top of the page where it says Wrap text, I clicked and chose in front of text, that brought the lace piece on top of the blue piece for me, I clicked on the lace piece and dragged it to the centered position I wanted and then I printed it on plain white copy paper, trimmed it with some fancy scissors, folded it in place in the envelope and glued it.  I don't know how to use the fancy programs but I can do most of what I want to do using Word.

Well that's it, thanks for stopping by and thanks for looking.  ~Diane

Yes you can can!

Hi All, hope you are keeping comfortable and enjoying the weather where you are.
I made this card with one of the Gecko Galz images from the Individual collage sheet Showtime.
My friend asked me to make a special card for a friend of hers that is going through a tough time with cancer, this image really spoke to me in hopes of inspiring strength, yes you can can (for those of you not old enough to remember, this looks like one of the girls that did a dance called the Can Can, lol).  I also used some Stampin Up card stock, embossed the lavender sheet and placed the 1/16 trimmed edge with my Perfect Layers Rulers,  love how it trims it up perfectly!
I did a close up to show the Stickles Frosted Lace I used.  When I bought it I had hoped it would be a bit more opaque, so I was a bit disappointed at the time.  I decided to give it a shot on the lace ruffle of the dress and I just love the effect, it really gives it a lacy feel, my camera makes it look sparkly, but it is not, just a real nice ruffled lace look.
I can't forget the envelope liner, I used Gecko Galz Pocket Full of Posies Paper Pack for this, I really love the vintage feel to it.  Speaking of Gecko Galz, be sure to stop by the store, Leanne is offering her bi annual  buy 1 get one (of equal or lesser value) free sale, it's a great time to stock up!
Well that's it for today, thanks for stopping by.  ~Diane

Engagement congratulations for Patrick

The minute I saw this Gecko Galz Man O Man collage set  I knew what I wanted to do for this card.  I had been struggling with making a "guy" card for my daughters fiance, but this image made it easy!  I think he will get a kick out of the humor on the card.  I used Gecko Galz Arabian Dreams paper set on the envelope liner and the background on the card is from the Gecko Galz Neverland paper set.  I added some Stickles to the charm (E for Elizabeth), and the cool looking gold trim is from a Dollar Treasure headband.  I used my Perfect Layers Square to get the image cut square. Enabler Alert!   Gecko Galz has a special going on every week this month!  This week customers who make a purchase will receive the Fantasies digital stamp set (which is gorgeous!) Each week they will have a new exclusive product to give away!

Birthday card

Hi, I took 3 different shots of this card so you could see it inside and out.  I found the yellow gate-fold card on clearance a couple years ago, it was an Anna Griffin wedding announcement set, truly pretty enough on it's own, the envelopes alone were worth the price I paid for it.  I added some lace to the front of it and then glued down the floral cut out flaps.  I don't think you can see it but I added some Stickles to the flowers too.  I folded the floral flap and glued it down to the outside of the envelope since this card will be hand delivered, you can see the solid yellow inside of the envelope in the 2nd photo.  I cut another piece of the gate-fold, mounted it to the left flap of the card front and punched the sides of it then added a sentiment and a place for a signature.  The inside of the card has a beautiful Gecko Galz image mounted on to a piece of yellow cs which is then mounted on to a gorgeous white die cut from Bird's Cards, I added a sheet of blue cs to the background to make it all pop.  And yes I did use my Perfect Layers Rulers to get the image cut square and to get the 1/8" yellow trim on it straight this time lol.

I just want to take a moment and thank Leanne Seed at Gecko Galz, I used the free image from her 2012 blog hop.  She is always generously offering beautiful collage sheets through her blog hops, on her personal blog Fripperies and Butterflies and through the Yahoo Gecko Galz Papercrafting· Ephemera Emporium Crafting Challenges group.  She offers so many fun challenges and plenty of chances to win free images too, I would love to see you join us there.
I also want to thank Bird from Birds Cards, she offers gorgeous die cuts in SVG and other formats free on her blog along with digital images and free how to instructions.  She has a Forum now where you can ask questions, get to know other crafters, and she will even entertain the idea of suggestions, you are such a sweet person Bird.
Many thanks to both of these kind and generous ladies for sharing your talents with all of us.

THE CATS MEOW CHALLENGE

I made this card using one of the free images from LeeAnne at Fripperies and Butterflies, for her Cats Meow Birthday Challenge.  She will have voting on the entries next Saturday, her Birthday.  I will also enter it in the January color challenge (blue and purple) at the Gecko Galz Yahoo Group.  I would love to see some of you there, LeeAnne has so many fun challenges to take part in.
So I fussed a lot to make this card, I used a new punch I received from my daughters beau for Christmas along with some lace I cut out and Stickled the outline on, (it looks really beautiful IRL).  I punched some vellum for the sentiment and added a rhinestone embellishment I found on clearance last year.  The trim around the image is from a head band I bought at Dollar Tree, it was 9 rows wide and around 10 inches long with some elastic attached.  I cut it into 9 long strands to embellish my cards with.  I had a hard time getting this to pick up in the photos.
Sorry I have been away from visiting this week, I hope to get caught up today.
Well that's it for today, thanks for looking.  ~Diane

Hi all, I made this card using Gecko Galz  Winter Time Collection, I love this image!  I used some flock on the muff and collar and I cut them out and pasted them over also to add more depth.  I used some Stickles on the holly and also around the border of the picture.  The background is a 2 1/2" wide sheer red ribbon with green glitter.  I mounted it onto red card stock to get the really deep red.  I did have a problem taping it down, the glue lines from my glue runner show through a bit and they did not hold that well, I had to use the skinny red 2 side tape to get it to stick.  It was a lot of work but well worth it as I love how it came out!  I used Grandma's House Paper Collection
for the envelope liner.  I used my  Perfect Layers square to get the nice registration on my image.  Well, thanks for sticking with me through the remodel, it feels so good to make cards again!  I have more I will be sharing later in the week.  Thanks for looking. ~Diane

Stickles, Stickles and more Stickles!

Hi all, sorry I have not been creating much lately.  We are still working on installing the wood floors.  My craft room seems to be the only available place to deposit everything for the time being and it is getting cramped in here, lol.   I made this card for my friends Mother in Law.  I grabbed the gold metal piece a while back at JoAnns for .50 cents on clearance, then I added the green rhinestones to dress it up.  I saw a card on Enfys blog using this technique to ink up the embossing folder before you run your paper through it, I really like the effect.  Not sure if you can see, I used a Spellbinders Nestability to cut the center circle then trimmed it in green Stickles.  I also used some green Stickles to change the trim on that lace ruffle from pink to green.  I used my  Perfect Layers Rulers to get the precise layers and traced the border with more Stickles.  Cardstock and leaf punch are Stampin Up, flowers and rhinestones are from Pizzaz Aplenty.  Thats it, thanks for looking.  ~Diane

Happy Birthday Meg

I made this card for my dear friend Meg who will be turning 39 again.    I used my favorite digital paper from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Uptown Houndstooth, I will never tire of this classic design.   The classic image is a freebie I found a long time ago from Art Freebies.  I used the sketch from Card Positioning Systems as my inspiration, I hope it's OK I added the sentiment.
I'm not sure if you can see it, I have a border of black diamond Stickles running outside the houndstooth paper.  I never would have bought black Stickles  alone, it was part of an 8 piece set I bought before Christmas.  But now that I have it I love it.  I always do this, I photograph my card and then I see something is missing, of course it only shows up in the photo, never while it's on my desk, never before it's all glued down.  I realised I needed another layer, like I should have mounted a sheet of black cardstock underneath.  It's all glued down but I can add a line of black Stickles!  Many a card has been rescued from mediocrity with my black (magic
) diamond Stickles.

Stop by Lindsay's blog The Frugal Crafter on Friday for a wrap up of  this and all the design team's work.

Pretty Poppie

For today's DT card I used the Poppy from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Fancy Flowers along with the Sweet Stitches Paper.  I used a technique from Technique Junkies newsletter called Level Up to add some dimension.  I also use some red Stickles to add some interest.  The lovely 5/8 red satin ribbon is from Pizzaz Aplenty.  I also used Spellbinders Labels 8 and Cuttlebug Mandarin Screen embossing folder.
Be sure to stop by Lindsay's blog The Frugal Crafter to see what she has made and to get the Thursday freebie.  Don't forget to check out the rest of the amazing design team, they really never cease to amaze me.

I've got the moon on a string.

I hope you can get the idea of this card from the photo's.  The Santa Moon is wound up by twisting it in circles about 15 times so that when you open the card he will spin.  I used the cute Santa Moon and Seasons Greetings stamps from Scrolls Work.  I stamped the Santa Moon once on white card stock and again on clear acetate with Stazon black ink.  I used the back side of the acetate image so I could flip it in the other direction.   I colored in the skin tone on the front and back of the white cut out so it shows through the acetate.  I have a piece of fishing line secured with Zots going from the top inside if the card, through the moon and then underneath the foil which was embossed with a Cuttlebug Snowflakes embossing folder.  I used Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Circles Large to cut both the opening and the top of the foil.  I heat embossed the Seasons Greetings inside the card.  I used Stickles Silver to trim the scallops and the star.

Christmas Lantern

This Christmas lantern was way too much fun to make and really easy too!   In the center is a battery operated tealight which looks really cool at night.  I used 4 fabulous stamps from Scrolls Work Rubber stamps to make this gem.  I used #8047 Noel Blocks, #8037 Christmas Kats#8024 Snow Kisses, and #8022 Christmas Tree.  I stamped them on vellum with Stazon ink and colored them in with markers and used some Stickles.  The holly leaves are made with Cricut Joys of the Season and I used Spellbinders Labels 2 Nestabilities to make the windows.  The shiny green cs is a heavy foil which I embossed with Stampin Up Texture Plates Kit 4 Weave.  Pop over to the Scrolls Work blog to see what the rest of the design team has made.

Lady Flourish Silhouette

I wish you could see this IRL, it has a lot of sparkle and dimension that I could not get the photo to pick up.  The gorgeous image is Scrolls Work image # 2557 Lady Flourish Silhouette #1.  I stamped her with Adirondack snow cap white and heat embossed with opaque silver powder onto Night of Navy cs.  I used the Spellbinders Impressabilities Snowflake to dry emboss the silver foil cs and added rhinestones to the centers of the snowflakes.  I trimmed the image in Stickles silver, blue and black.  The ribbon was a wide one that I trimmed down to this size.  The layout is from a sketch at Waltzingmouse Stamps that I found on Allison's Stampin When I Can blog.  Be sure to stop by the Scrolls Work blog to see what the rest of the Design Team and our Guest Designer have made.
