Runway Birthday Party Card

This is a fun card for a Birthday Party with a Runway Model's theme.  This was so easy to make, I used Stampin Up card stock for the Pink and Purple.  I embossed the Pink with a Sizzix Texture Plate that has lipstick, shoes and purses.  I used my Spellbinders Deckled Mega Rectangles Nestabilities on a piece of shiny metallic card stock to give the impression of a full length mirror.  I made the hanger from bendable jewelry wire.    The fancy ribbon boa comes from stash from my friend  Terry at Tellens Place.  The party invitation was printed on my computer and I inked up a swirl to stamp over it.  The shoes were cut on my Cricut Plantin Schoolbook.  I cut the letter N, turned it upside down and cut off the upward stroke.  I then cut a little curve and added a rhinestone and voila, I have shoes.  Thanks for looking.  ~Diane

No wonder they called it the Wonder Store!

I made this card with the inspiration provided by two very popular challenge sites.  My friend Sandi came up with the inspiration colors of blue/green, chocolate brown, tan and cream for the Play Date Cafe Challenge.  Sandi used whimsy and humor with these very elegant colors in her challenge card, so I decided to be a bit whimsical yet elegant myself.
The challenge inspiration at Just Us Girls (JUGS) called for some dry embossing and to make it a Birthday card, celebrating team member Dana's birthday, I hope you had a good birthday.
Now for my own personal inspiration, I found this little booklet tucked inside one of my Grandmothers old cookbooks.  I wonder how many times she pulled it out to admire all the beautiful dresses.  I collect old and antique cookbooks because I love to reading them, and cooking the recipes.  It's a great way to get a glimpse into the lives of the women of that era.  This advertising ephemera has 6 ladies in different dresses all advertising the Paragon Broadcloth dresses for 1 dollar each!  The Wonder Store must have been Wonderful!  Beautiful dresses for 1 dollar!  I added the aged tan order blank, and stamped Happy Birthday in chocolate brown on it.  Wouldn't Dana just love to get one of these dresses for 1 dollar for her birthday?  I used Stampin Up ivory, and chocolate brown.  The blue/green dp is K &Company Brenda Walton "Mira".  I dry embossed the chocolate brown cs with a Sizzix Texture plate, and the dp was dry embossed with Cuttlebug Textile embossing folder.  Happy Birthday stamp is from Warmest Regards.  I hope you enjoy this, I had fun making it!  Thanks for looking.  ~Diane
Whoo Hoo!  This card was chosen for the Fab 4 at Play Date Cafe!

Two for One Challenge

I made this card with 2 challenges in mind.  The sweet little bird on a pumpkin is a free digital image from Nina May of There's Magic in the Air.  Nina taught me how to download and adjust a digital image.  I am also using this for a new color challenge, over at Play Date Cafe.  The colors are orange, yellow and dark brown.

The products I used for this card are as follows. The beautiful designer paper is K &Company Brenda Walton Mira, you can't see the pretty shiny gold trim in this photo, it is gorgeous paper.  I used DCWV Heritage textured cs in brown, a vellum flower I made on the Cricut, I embossed with a Sizzix texture plate and cut and embossed with Spellbinders Labels 8.  The orange cs was from a sale.  This was a fun but really challenging exercise for me.  I would have to say color is my weak point in papercrafting so I am happy to be learning more at Play Date Cafe.  And I am also new to digital art, Nina at There's Magic in the Air has already helped me there, now I just need to master some coloring techniques.  Hope you enjoyed this, thanks for looking.  ~Diane

Just for Fun

Mojo Madness 107 Contest

OK so I am taking a stab at some challenges this week. This is not my usual style, but when I saw the layout at MojoMonday Sketch Blog I immediately thought of the crown embellishments and Princess rhinestones I bought last week. The rest of the card somewhat evolved from there. I kept trying different ribbons, and I did not like any of them until went for my mini boa. Perfect fit, and after all this is just for fun. And I certainly did have fun making this one. Thanks for looking. ~Diane

Come join us for some fun!

This is the card I made for the Tuesday Challenge.

Here's the recipe for this card: The fabulous card stock background is from DCWV NANA'S Kitchen. The flower pot is barely bannana SU, and has a sheet of vellum embossed with a Sizzix plate over the top. I molded the flowers, ladybugs and flowerpot around various items on my desk to give them shape. I added dimensional foam to the flower pot, and the ladybugs bodies. I had some chunky glitter I found on clearance at JoAnns a while ago, I added it to the black bodies of the ladybugs and used it for the centers of the flowers. The ladybug eye's are from dollar store. Oops, I almost forgot, the flower pot, flowers, stems, and ladybugs were all cut with my Cricut Walk in my Garden.

Well the Spellbinders Pendant Contest deadline has come and gone. Good luck to all of us who entered! I entered 3 projects which I can't show you yet, but here is one of my rejects that didn't make the cut and get entered.

For this card I used the Spellbinders Fleur de Lis , I added a few rhinestones and an embellishment to the center. I wanted to enter it into the contest, but my family voted it down and chose another for me to send in. Thanks for looking ~Diane
