Beauty in Pink and Black

Hi All, I am sharing a card I made for the Gecko Galz Design Team using some of the new paper from the Solarium paper pack and the April Colors collage sheet.   This is my usual  5 x 7 card, I printed the paper and the image on Staples matte photo paper,  framed the image with my in black card stock using my Perfect Layers Rulers. I added a digital die cut from my Zing by Krewella Kreations The envelope liner is printed on copy paper.
That's it for today, thanks for stopping by.

Birthday card for Patrick

I made this card for my daughters Fiance for his birthday.  The image and frame (which I fussy cut to set the image into) are from The Sum of All Crafts.   The background paper (also on the envelope liner) is from Gecko Galz, the paper is Tajmahal from Arabian Dreams collection.  I love the way the colors and prints all go together!  The papers are part of my win at Gecko Galz, I went crazy buying paper sets and paper sets are on special this month too, buy one get one free, what a bargain, I plan to stock up on a few more!  I used my Perfect Layers Rulers to get the precise layers on my card, see my sidebar for a coupon or click on my link.  I also used my new Inka Gold to trim the inside of the frame, which I purchased from the Flying Unicorn.  Wow, I was really impressed with their service and prices too!  I found some splendid bargains on the Inka Gold and Stickles and they were so prompt, I received my package 2 days after I ordered it!  And they even sent a present along with my order, a gorgeous package of Petaloo stick on flowers, thank you so much!  Don't you just love it when they give you an added surprise, I know I do!  I will definitely be shopping there again! Too bad you can not see the 40 tiny black rhinestones I added all around the frame.  Well that is it for today, we only saw 5 inches of snow, thank goodness, I hope my friends in Connecticut, Maine and Long Island are all OK, I have you in my prayers.
Thanks for looking.  ~Diane

Valentine

Good morning, it it cold here in Michigan today and we are expecting snow storms later today.   I made this card using my winnings from Gecko Galz.  The gorgeous paper is from the Gecko Galz  Neverland collection, it is called Pixie dust, the tag behind the image is from the Gecko Galz Vanity Fair paper collection, I printed both of them on to Staples matte photo paper, I really love using photo paper, it really brings out the gorgeous colors in the papers.  As you can see the same image was used for the envelope, but it is a bit faded in comparison, because it was printed on regular paper.  The main image is from the Gecko Galz January release Love me do, (I printed this one on Glossy Photo Paper) and the sweet little tickets are from Gecko Galz Bits and Pieces.  I used my  Perfect Layers Rulers to get the precise layers on my card, see my sidebar for a coupon or click on my link.
I also wanted to share another tip with you, see the pretty red feather on her feather pen? Guess where it came from, this 15 inch feather duster I found that at Dollar Treasure for $1.00 !  Look at all those beautiful colored feathers, and they are the perfect size too!  The feathers at JoAnns and Michaels are $5.00 a bag for a smaller portion and they are much bigger and more awkward to work with, I end up cutting them to make them smaller and that feather fuzz is hard to get rid of ha ha, it sticks to everything!  These feathers are a perfect size for card making and my card is a 5 x 7.
Speaking of Gecko Galz, here is this months special.
And you know how I love paper, I am all over this one!

Thinking of Spring

Hi All, it is cold here in Michigan today, 6 degrees, BRRR!  I am hoping these pretty Spring colors will welcome the warmer temperatures, or at the very least remind us that they are on the way.  I designed this card around the beautiful yellow ribbon with the pearls and yellow gingham cloth on the wood chip butterfly.  It was a gift from my dear friend Valerie, in fact when my husband saw it, he said "you aren't going to use that are you?  I think you should just keep it as it is just too pretty to use up".  And I thought I was the hoarder, ha ha!  Well, she sent me plenty and I only used a small portion.  The card is for my friend Meg to give to her sweet daughter Laura so it was a good occasion to use it.  But of course I had to fuss over the card to make sure it was worthy of the ribbon.  I am finally happy with the results.  The sweet image is from Gecko Galz, the papers are digital prints from Susan Godfrey, sadly she is not making papers any more.  And yes I did use my Perfect Layers Rulers to get the image cut square and to get the yellow trim on it straight this time lol.
Thanks for looking.  ~Diane
Whoo Hoo!  I just saw that I won a $25.00 Shopping Spree at Gecko Galz for my entry into LeeAnns Birthday bash challenge the Cats Meow!  I always have a wish list for what more I want there too.  Pop over to LeeAnns blog Fripperies and Butterflies, she has already started another challenge with some beautiful free Vintage Valentine images!  Thank you LeeAnne!

I am linking this card up to Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge "What are you known for."

Revised card

Sorry to bore you all, but the card in my previous post was a mess, I am so upset with myself!  Looks like I was drunk when I put that together!  Funny how I did not see it until I saw my blog in Google Reader!  That is so crooked, I could not believe I did not see it!  I have worked on this card for 4 days now,  I had a hard time getting the punched purple to fit the image, so I ended up taping it in pieces to the back of the image.  I know it would have been easier to just print the purple paper again, but because I ran out of pink ink in my printer, and refilled it, it now printed a different color purple paper and it did not match my background piece either. This is a good example of what happens when I don't use my Perfect Layers Rulers, no kidding, and this is why I have them, this just  drives me nuts!  I can't stand it when I glue it together crooked, I have a mental problem with it I think, it's a real pet peeve of mine.  lol.  I think the reason I did not see it was because I was trying so hard to get the Stickles that I trimmed on to the lace edges to show in the photo that I obviously did not see the whole set up was crooked.  So I spent the better part of today trying to delicately take it apart and straighten it out.  At first I thought it was the way I cut and taped the Fleur de Lis border on to the back of the picture, it was slightly uneven, but after tearing it all apart and adding pieced corners from the other punch, (I thought if I rounded out the corners they would not look as crooked) after sifting through my waste basket to find pieces of the Fleur de Lis to tape back on...I realized that was not the problem at all!   My inspiration for the whole piece was the line of trim from the headbands I placed around the picture, that was my culprit, I glued that on crooked!  So I pushed and nudged, and  I am afraid if I try to take it off I will totally ruin the card.  Which by the way was already in the envelope ready to be sent out!  I was going to just replace the card in that post, but then I thought you all might get a kick out of seeing what I went through.
Thanks for looking... and laughing with me.  ~Diane

Merry Christmas everyone!

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas!  Thank you for sharing your Holiday's with me.
I made this using the digital stamp from the Vintage Christmas Digital Stamp Collection (25 stamps) by Gecko Galz.    I printed the stamped image on glossy photo paper and added pearls in different sizes to the Laurel on the little girl then added red Stickles to the Holly Berries on the boy.  If anyone recalls, the journal I made before had the Laurel incorrectly colored in red, but I did not figure that out until it was done, ha ha.  The pretty papers are from Gecko Galz Grandma's House Paper collection. I used my  Perfect Layers Rulers to get the precise layers on my card, see my sidebar for a coupon.  The pearls are from Pizzazz Aplenty.  I am entering this into the Gecko Galz Blog Challenge.

I am blessed to have my daughter home from Kentucky for the holidays, so along with my son and husband we will be enjoying our time together.  I will do my best to make some visits but I don't think I will be posting anything until the New Year.  Thank you for following me this year, a special thanks to the friends I have made this year and really become fond of.  I never imagined myself here years ago, but I know I am blessed to know all of my blogging friends, you have all made my life so much richer, and the world so much smaller.
Thanks for looking, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays to all.  ~Diane

Hi all, I made this card using Gecko Galz  Winter Time Collection, I love this image!  I used some flock on the muff and collar and I cut them out and pasted them over also to add more depth.  I used some Stickles on the holly and also around the border of the picture.  The background is a 2 1/2" wide sheer red ribbon with green glitter.  I mounted it onto red card stock to get the really deep red.  I did have a problem taping it down, the glue lines from my glue runner show through a bit and they did not hold that well, I had to use the skinny red 2 side tape to get it to stick.  It was a lot of work but well worth it as I love how it came out!  I used Grandma's House Paper Collection
for the envelope liner.  I used my  Perfect Layers square to get the nice registration on my image.  Well, thanks for sticking with me through the remodel, it feels so good to make cards again!  I have more I will be sharing later in the week.  Thanks for looking. ~Diane

Special card for a special friend

Hi, sorry I have been absent for so long.  The remodel keeps moving through different phases, I get things put back together then it gets torn up all over again.  The end is in sight, thank goodness!
I made this card for my friend Celeste from Celestina Marie Design to thank her for the exquisite hand painted ornaments she sent me.   The image is from Gecko Galz , I printed it on matte photo paper to capture all the beauty.  The paper is from Shabby Cottage Studio also printed on matte photo paper.   I have been admiring the use of gauze on other blogs,  I sprayed this gauze with some Tattered Angels glimmer mist, I made the hat pin from items at Pizzazz Aplenty.
and the vintage ribbon charm is from my Mothers costume jewelry box.   I used my Perfect Layers square and rulers to get the nice square cuts and borders.  (use my link and coupon code Bove5%, you will save 5% on the Perfect layers rulers and get flat rate priority shipping.
If you are looking for some great ideas for Christmas presents, all of the above links are places I can vouch for, they all have beautiful items to get or give.

Gecko Galz Christmas Release # 8

This is the last card that I sent off to Gecko Galz for the October Guest Designer spot.  I am still making them though so you will still see many more to come!  It sure feels good to have a head start on my Christmas cards too!
For this card I wanted something different so I layered the same print in 2 different sizes, I like the way it looks.  The print is from the  Christmas Chic collection.   The gorgeous papers are from Grandma's House Paper Collection .   The precisely cut solid frames were done with my Perfect Layers square and rulers using the 1/16th measurement.
It truly was a pleasure to work with so many beautiful images and papers, thank you Leanne for allowing me to be your October featured guest artist for Gecko Galz.  Now that you have seen some of the beautiful products from Gecko Galz I hope you will consider joining the Yahoo Group.  The Galz there are very supportive, Leanne spoils us with gorgeous free images and challenges to win more free image sets!  Stop by one of her 2 stores Etsy and GeckoGalz .com to see what she has to offer.  And if you are in Texas check out her classes here.

Gecko Galz Christmas Release # 4

This is one of my favorites, I think because I felt so confident choosing the mix of papers.  You may notice when I comment on your blogs I frequently comment on the paper selection, as I think it really does make the card and also because I really struggle with that aspect of it.  With Gecko Galz Grandma's House Paper Collection  it was so easy to mix papers and patterns, the work was already done for me.  The great coordinating image is from the Christmas Chic collection.  The precisely cut solid frames were done with my Perfect Layers square and rulers using the 1/16th measurement.
I want to take this opportunity to remind you that Gecko Gals is having their 2nd Annual Blog Hop on 10/26/2012 running through 10/28/2012.  For this 3 day event they are offering free goodies at every blog and at the end of the hop there will be a special phrase that you will have collected along the way that will give you an opportunity to win the amazing prize of all prizes!  1 year of free collage sets... that is 5 free sets each month, whoo hoo, how cool is that!  Kick off will start at the Gecko Galz blog on 10/26/2012, you can find the link at the top of my sidebar on the right.  Good luck to all of us!  Thanks for looking.  ~Diane

Gecko Galz Christmas Release

Today I am sharing more of the beautiful collage sets from Gecko Galz.  For this card I used pieces from the Rockwell Christmas Collection along with the Alter Me Collection.  The beautiful background papers I used are from Grandma's House Paper Collection.
Although I did not frame these pieces I did use my Perfect Square tool to get the nice straight edges.  I used Tim Holtz Distress ink in Weathered Wood also.Ranger DIS-27157 Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad (Google Affiliate Ad)
I am very grateful that I was chosen as a Guest Designer for Gecko Galz and they are currently looking for more artists to fill the spots for 2013, you can read more about it here.  I am encouraging all of you to give it a try, the products are all gorgeous!

Gecko Galz Christmas Release

The minute my daughter saw this image (on another project I made) she said Momma I love that, make me something with this on it!  So I made her this journal using the digital stamp from the Vintage Christmas Digital Stamp Collection (25 stamps) by Gecko Galz.   I printed the stamped image on glossy photo paper and colored in the berries on the girl with Ranger SGG01-836 Stickles Glitter Glue 0.5 Ounce (Google Affiliate Ad) along with the outline.   The background paper is from the  Grandma's House Paper collection.  I used a Stampin Up punch for the ring holes but ended up gluing some extra pieces in as the holes were not the same.  I used my Perfect Square tool to cut the image evenly.
I really love working with these Gecko Galz sets, there is still so much more to show you.  Speaking of Gecko Galz, there is a Yahoo group, I would love for you to join the fun there.  Plenty of challenges with great prizes, free images every month and all the Galz there are so nice (tell them I sent you)!
I love how this looks but I wonder now if I colored her berries in the wrong color.  I noticed after it was all said and done that the leaves on the boy are the sharp pointy leaves of the Holly and I don't know what kind or color plant the girl is made of, if anyone knows please give me a shout out.  I do know the faces on the two of them are gorgeous!   Thanks to all who have correctly identified the leaves for me as Mistletoe.  I already have a gift card holder colored in the same way but I will be sure to do another project with the right colors.  I think I was somewhat following my creative instinct but once it was done I realized there is a reason my thumbs are not green, ha ha!

Gecko Galz October Guest Artist

This month I have the honor of being the Guest Artist for Gecko Galz, this is also the month of their Christmas release.  So I have had the opportunity to work with the most beautiful papers and ephemera sets.  For this card I used the Grandma's House Paper collection  along with this image from page 2 of the Chic Christmas collection.  The sweet little button is from the Jewel It collection Happy Holidays, perfect for this 22mm brad I made with the I -Top.  I maintained the perfect frame alignment using my Perfect Layers square and rulers using the 1/16th measurement.
I must confess, the most difficult part of card making for me has always been choosing the papers.  This is the first time I have ever worked with a complete collection like this and I love it!  It was so easy to choose papers because they were already selected to be in the right color family for me!  I printed out all the papers and the sets and it was so much fun to choose multiple papers that were all coordinated to go together with each other and with the images!  Even I could not go wrong with this set ha ha!  I will be posting all of the fun Christmas things I made with this collection in the next few weeks, I think you will love these sets as much as I do!
On a more personal note my sciatica is better and we have finally finished the floors!  I am still unpacking and trying to organize my craft room, I am almost settled in to my new space.  I should be able to get back to my regular posting again, I have really missed all of you.  I truly appreciate all the well wishes here and through emails you have sent me, it has meant so much to me.  I hope to catch up on your blogs too, I am sorry I fell behind.  Thanks for looking and thanks for not giving up on me!  ~Diane

Butterfly Pixies Pop Up Card

Today I am posting a special card I made for my dear friend Valerie.  Most of the images of the beautiful Butterfly winged Fairies come from the Gecko Galz set called Pixie Dust.  If you look closely you can see it is another one of my Pop Up cards, where I layer it from the center out, one image extending on to another.  If you are interested in making one I have a post with step by step instructions here.  The real butterflies are from Magic Moonlight, free digital images (I have had them in my file for a long time you may have to search to find them there.)  The front ticket with the pretty bird is a free image from Emily at Sweetly Scrapped, it is one of her free business cards that I went into Pic Monkey and edited to say Thank you.  I wrote Valeries name and signed my own in Stickles.   (I didn't have a picture of her name on the card so I used the one she had featured on her blog).  I used my  Perfect Layers Rulers to get the precise layers on the front of my card.  And, and, and, I printed these all out on HP Matte Matte photo paper.

Gecko Galz Blue and Orange July challenge

Hi, I'm here, lol.  I finally finished this card for my girlfriend's 50th Birthday, the inside of this card says from your 110 lb friend.  I love this sentiment, I don't know who to attribute it to since I've seen it a ton of times and every time I see it I laugh.  The sweet Marilyn image is from Gecko Galz and so is that gorgeous paper (Nouveau Nights).  I am entering this into the July color challenge at Gecko Galz, blue and orange are the colors this month.  I added the message to the front of the image in Pic Monkey, really easy and free photo editing program.  I edit all my photos there but now I am getting a little more adventurous and adding some text, so easy to do!  I added lots of glitter to the edging.  I used my Perfect Layers Rulers to get the nice alignments.  I had originally cut the borders to my picture in blue, white, then blue againThe white did not look right so I traced my black Stickles around the border and hid the white frame.  The flowers were on the Nouveau Nights paper, I printed it twice and fussy cut the second layer and then added black Stickles to the center and orange Stickles to the flowers.  The flooring still has me floored, ha ha,  I can barely move in my craft room, there are boxes of wood "acclimating" all over the house.  Well, that's it, thank you for looking.  ~Diane

Stickles, Stickles and more Stickles!

Hi all, sorry I have not been creating much lately.  We are still working on installing the wood floors.  My craft room seems to be the only available place to deposit everything for the time being and it is getting cramped in here, lol.   I made this card for my friends Mother in Law.  I grabbed the gold metal piece a while back at JoAnns for .50 cents on clearance, then I added the green rhinestones to dress it up.  I saw a card on Enfys blog using this technique to ink up the embossing folder before you run your paper through it, I really like the effect.  Not sure if you can see, I used a Spellbinders Nestability to cut the center circle then trimmed it in green Stickles.  I also used some green Stickles to change the trim on that lace ruffle from pink to green.  I used my  Perfect Layers Rulers to get the precise layers and traced the border with more Stickles.  Cardstock and leaf punch are Stampin Up, flowers and rhinestones are from Pizzaz Aplenty.  Thats it, thanks for looking.  ~Diane

Praying for you card.

I thought I would show you how much paper I save using my Perfect Layers Rulers, this is just one of the reasons I love it.  The card is 5x7 and the sheets of card stock are 8.5x11.  I cut 2 blue frames and 2 black frames using less than a half sheet of card stock, isn't that great!  I glued my image right on to the full sheet of blue, cut my frame, then did the same on to the black card stock cut the larger frame from the patterned cs, then did another black and blue frame.  I flipped the piece in the middle photo so you can see I don't even need to place it correctly, I can glue it on crooked and it will still cut a perfect border.   I used 2 different size prints of the patterned cs, (I had not made the decision to use the larger sheet as yet.)  The image is free from Magic Moonlight, the paper is Nouveau Nights from Gecko Galz, solid color cardstock is Stampin Up.  I used a Spellbinders NEST-SET-4 Spellbinders Nestabilities Dies for the sentiment a little Tim Holtz distress ink and the lace flower is from Pizzaz Aplenty.  For more information on the Perfect Layers Rulers and a 5% discount, use my coupon code Bove5% here.  Thanks for looking.  ~Diane
